Investigation of the Relationships between Perceived Marital Conflict, Parents’ Irrational Beliefs, Anxiety and Children’s Automatic Thoughts, Problem Solving Skills, and Children’s Anxiety and Aggression

In this study, it was examined whether the anxiety and aggression observed in children were predicted by irrational beliefs anxieties of parents, marital conflict perceived children, automatic thoughts problem solving skills. The study group is comprised 304 elementary school fourth-grade students (170 females 134 males) attending a state located city İzmir, Turkey, during 2016-2017 academic year. Additionally, includes students’ parents ( n = 608), making total 912 participants. Within context “Trait Anxiety Scale” “Parent Irrational Beliefs administered to “Children’s Perception Marital Conflict Scale,” “Problem Solving Inventory for Children,” Automatic Thoughts “Little Aggression students. analyses conducted current have revealed that except variables father’s trait mother’s beliefs, other significant contribution model; children’s problem-solving skills significantly 55% variance explained. Moreover, found explain 27% children. On hand, anxiety, no role prediction aggressive behaviors. findings obtained as result research are discussed according relevant literature within scope Ecological Model, suggestions made future research.
